Fun Facts from our SVDP Food Bank!
Question: What item was developed in 1888 and helps to control odor? Answer: Deodorant, did you know that it comes in a variety of scents and can be used on more than just your underarms. Question: Which cleaning product can be used to clean more than one item? Answer: Dish Soap is not only used to clean dishes and cutlery but it can also be used to wash clothes.
Please consider picking up some deodorant, both men’s and ladies and dish soap this week, any variety you choose and dropping it into the food bank bin at the back of the Church. Your support makes a significant difference!
And if you have no time to shop, consider donating via e-transfer at: svdpbowmanville.donations@gmail.com – Create your own security question and use the security answer – foodbank. All donations over $20 are eligible for a donation tax receipt so please put your email address in the information section of the transfer.

St. Vincent de Paul Store
The St. Vincent de Paul store in Bowmanville successfully reopened a year ago, thanks to the generous support of numerous parish and community members. However, we are currently seeking additional volunteers to ensure our continued success.

Indigenous Reconciliation Fund Update
The Indigenous Reconciliation Fund (IRF) seeks to support projects that are determined by First Nations, Indigenous, and Métis partners that promote healing, dialogue, and education in our local communities. The IRF has awarded 8 grants worth nearly $160K across the Diocese of Peterborough. Learn more about these projects. On the two-year anniversary of Pope Francis’s penitential pilgrimage to Canada, the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops has provided an update on the steps that the Catholic Church in Canada has taken to respond to the Holy Father’s calls for a future of justice, healing, and reconciliation. Kindred Spirits
Kindred Spirits Participating the the 2024 Terry Fox Run
This weekend members of our parish Kindred Spirts Community will be participating in the 2024 Clarington Terry Fox Run. The event starts Sunday morning across the street from our church at Memorial Park. The Terry Fox Run is an annual event that continues the legacy of Terry Fox’s 1980 Marathon of Hope to raise awareness of and money for cancer research. The Terry Fox Foundation continues to be rated as a “5 Star Charity” by Charity Intelligence Canada – an organization that looks at the work of Canadian charities in terms of effectiveness to their stated goal and transparency.
