Dear dedicated teacher,
The celebration of the Eucharist is considered the source and summit of our faith, the most important celebration in the life of our Church. In the Mass, participants have the opportunity to offer worship, hear God’s Word and receive life itself; good planning helps remove obstacles that may hinder participants from meeting our Saviour.
If you’ve been chosen to help plan a School Mass, you may find the resources below invaluable. Here, it’s easy to make contact with the celebrant. A template for the Mass will guide you through fulfilling the various ministries and highlight ways your students can contribute. A Google Slides template is also provided. As you prepare, feel free to edit these templates.
I recommend beginning to plan for a school Mass about two weeks before the planned date. One week before, I would love to come to your class to answer any questions you or your students have. On my visit, I would like to work with your students at composing the Prayers of the Faithful.
In some cases, you may be able to swap the usual readings of the day for readings from one of the Masses for Various Needs and Occasions. The Mass Template will indicate if this is possible and, if so, will contain a link to a list of these Masses for Various Needs and Occasions. If you would like to choose one of these readings, you will have to arrange to come by the church to see the readings first hand and make copies.
