Biting insects: more than a nuisance for many
Biting insects: more than a nuisance for many
For most, mosquitoes and other biting insects are an annoyance, but for those struggling to find shelter, dealing with this issue is a serious challenge; ticks, especially, can pose serious health risks. From June 6th through the 22nd, a drop off box in the church entrance offers a place where bug repellant can be donated. Your gifts will be made available to those in need of bug repellant through the food bank, library and other ways.

Corpus Christi Eucharistic Procession
Corpus Christi Eucharistic Procession
A Eucharistic Procession is an outward sign of how the Saviour accompanies disciples as they share the Good News throughout the world. After the 4:30pm Mass on June 6th, the Blessed Sacrament will be led from the church into the neighbourhood on a 1km walk with music and prayers. Afterwards, all are welcome to a potluck dinner in the main hall.

Monthly Prayer for Mental Health
Monthly Prayer for Mental Health
This month, the Pope’s prayer intention is for the values of sports.
Sports celebrate excellence and achievement, and they can be good for our mental health, spirit and body and help build community. But the “win-at-all-cost” attitude all too often found in sports can negatively impact our mental health.
We are more than our worst game, best performance, or most anxious day. Pope Leo XIV has said sports are healthiest when they do “not idolize performance but recognizes the dignity of those who play.”
Let us pray that sports support mental health and promote values such as respect, solidarity, and personal growth.

Magnifica Humanitas
Magnifica Humanitas
Pope Leo XIV’s Encyclical Letter, Magnifica Humanitas, was released on May 25th. It focuses on safeguarding the human person in the time of artificial intelligence. The date commemorates the 135th anniversary of Pope Leo XIII’s Encyclical Letter, Rerum Novarum. The encyclical places the dignity of the human person at the centre as the criteria for guiding technical progress, proposing, as an alternative to the culture of power and war, a civilization of love founded on justice, dialogue and shared responsibility.
