Sometimes things change…

Listen to past messages delivered by our priests

Listen to the most recent homily:

Connections between our church and the community are made through our service groups. These groups also offer opportunities for disciples to serve and support one another.

Sacraments

Baptism

Baptism is the starting point for Christians, offering access to the life of God’s Spirit. Those Baptized are reborn as children of God, are freed of Original Sin, become part of the family of Jesus, members of His Church, and share in the mission of the Church.

Eucharist (Communion)

Jesus remains physically present with his people through the Eucharist, under the appearance of bread and wine. Following his commandment to, “do this in memory of me” (Luke 22:19), those properly prepared receive Jesus as spiritual nourishment. Additionally, all Christians are invited to adore and worship Jesus always present in the Eucharist.

Confirmation

The Sacrament of Confirmation is the final Sacrament of initiation, finalizing Christian commitment. In this Sacrament, God gives life to the Church and strengthens disciples through the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Reconciliation (Confession)

The Sacrament of Reconciliation restores a person’s relationship with God by forgiving sins committed after Baptism. Through confessing sins, expressing sorrow, and receiving absolution, disciples receive God’s mercy and healing grace. It also strengthens the person to resist sin and grow in holiness.

Anointing of the Sick

The Anointing of the Sick is a Sacrament through which God comforts and heals, physically and/or spiritually, his people. Though it has sometimes been called, ‘Last Rites’, there’s no need to wait till someone is near death to seek this Sacrament; this is for anyone facing serious illness or are in danger of death.

In an emergency, where death is imminent, please call one of our priests directly at 905-623-3233. If the sick individual is in the hospital or a long-term care or retirement home, ask the staff for a Catholic Priest.

Marriage

Many are called to receive the Sacrament of marriage, to serve by loving their spouse freely, fully, fruitfully and totally. The shared love of married couples reminds us of God’s love for his Church and the vows they take at their wedding reveal God’s eternal commitment to his people.

Holy Orders

All Baptized Christians are called to live out the priestly duties of offering sacrifice, worship and prayers on behalf of the world; a mission called the ‘common priesthood’. However, some men are called to live out this priesthood in a more specific way through the ‘ministerial priesthood’, especially by celebrating the Sacraments for the people.

Through discernment, men discover how they may be called to receive the Sacrament of Holy Orders and serve God and his people. Through a Vocations Office, the Diocese of Peterborough supports those discerning.
